The Town of Marshville contracts with Waste Connections for all garbage pickup services. Garbage pickup is every Wednesday, cans must be placed by curve by 5:00 AM Wednesday morning. If your garbage is missed, please call Waste Connections dispatch directly at (704)708-5872. Only call Town Hall if you need to change anything billing related to your Garbage services such as adding a new Garbage can.

Waste Connections Garbage Pickup Schedule

Household Garbage

All garbage must be bagged and placed in the 96 gallon container. Containers should be placed at an accessible location beside the street before 7:00 AM on pickup day, with the metal bar on the containter, and arrow on top of the lid facing the street. Please do not place containers near mailboxes or parked vehicles. If you have more than one container sitting out, please make sure there is at least  a two (2) foot space between them for the arm on the garbage truck to grab each container.

DO NOT place grass clippings, garden waste, medical waste, construction and building materials, auto parts or hazardous waste in your garbage container.

Bulk items that DO NOT fit in the container will be picked up by a different truck on Wednesday. These include dry furniture, dry and sealed mattresses/box springs, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, chairs, sofas, barbecues, electric lawnmowers, suitcases.

Waste Connections, and the Town, do not pick up flooring, lumber, plumbing, antifreeze, batteries, tires, TVs, electronic devices, automobile parts, paints and liquids or pool chemicals. These items must be taken to the Union County Landfill by the customer. No exceptions.

Owners of rental property shall be responsible for the removal and disposal of household trash and/or yard waste that has been placed at the street by tenants or former tenants. Violations are subject to fines.

Leaf Collection

Leaves must be bagged in clear plastic bags and placed inside your garbage can for Waste Connections to pick up with regular garbage. Please see the Leaf Vacuuming tab for information on leaf vacuuming services conducted by Public Works from October to March. 

Lot Clearing

A contractor must dispose of all material from any lot or land clearing operation.

Yard Waste

Grass clippings, brush, and shrub trimmings must be in clear plastic bags and placed at the curb before 7:00 AM and must be free of other debris for Thursday pickup. Limbs are not picked up by Waste Connections. Please see the "Limb Pickup" tab for limb pickup service.

Loose yard waste such as pinecones, straw, and vines must be put in clear, plastic bags and placed by the roadside before 7:00 AM for Thursday pickup.

It shall be the duty of the property owner or contractor to dispose of debris resulting from the construction, remodeling, landscaping, demolition, or repair of buildings/homes. No material from land clearing or landscaping will be picked up.

Yard waste will not be picked up from vacant lots or abandoned structures.
